Almost every type of business requires some form of public speaking. Whether it's a technical product presentation to a client or leading a staff meeting, every speech needs commitment: to the message and to the audience.
Elaine Dumler, owner of Frankly Speaking
and immediate past president of the Colorado Speakers Association counsels businesses on how their employees and managers can improve their speaking and communication skills.
"I help business people who want to express themselves so others will listen to them, and act on what they say. I also believe that one of the most important parts of communication doesn't have anything to do with what you say
it's about image. Be sure you're comfortable with the person the audience is getting. If people make 1st impressions in 30 seconds, they make a judgement of you before you say your 1st word"!
She achieves this by specializing in workshops that focus on business presentation skills, and corporate or entrepreneurial networking (capitalizing on your ability to talk to people). She also helps project teams cut time and money while working together better.
Elaine Dumler understands the presentation and networking needs of business professionals. So it's not hard to believe that she was only 13 years old when she first spoke to 250 people. Elaine formed Frankly Speaking
to work with people who wish to bring a sense of "craftmanship" into their business presentations. This evolved into a series of presentation skill training and video coaching workshops entitled "Speak for SUCCESS!", which is now the foundation of her business. She presents programs internationally for such organizations as General Electric, Johnson & Johnson, and the U.S. government.
Elaine came into this business with many years of experience in the insurance industry and as a senior consultant with Leads Club, Int., - a networking organization - and has delivered over 1000 talks on using networking strategies to grow your business. She was a columnist in an international newsletter, and has been a featured guest on both radio and television sharing her knowledge. She is the author of "10 Keys to Comfortable Conversation" and co-author of the book Marketing for People NOT in Marketing.
Elaine is an active member of the National Speaker's Association and served as president of the Colorado Speaker's Association for the 2000-2001 year.
She's married to a middle school math teacher and has a son who is a freshman at Kansas University majoring in Engineering. She loves to quilt and hates to cook, so be sure to visit the Up Close and Personal page on this site for quilt tips and this month's featured "I hate to cook recipe" for others who feel the same way!
